It is perched on a hill just in the front of Emirates Towers, the Museum of the Future has been an impressive enigma of a building for a number of years.
The construction process progressed, and the building’s striking design emerged in the financial district the landmark structure caught the hearts and minds of tourists and residents alike. The grand opening was scheduled in time to be held during Expo 2020; both were delayed due to the Covid-19.
The museum officially began its operation on the 22nd of February 2022. The date was chosen specifically due to its palindrome characteristics 22.2.22.
The building’s unique design was developed in the hands of Killa Design, a local architectural firm, in the year 2015 as the winner in the design contest for the museum. The project was led by Shaun Killa, the firm chose the geometric form of an elliptical-shaped torus.
The fluidity of the structure stands out in stark contrast to those vertical lines found in towers that typically line Sheikh Zayed Road. The structure is composed of three components of the hill: grass as well as the building itself, and the void that symbolizes Earth humanity, Earth and the unknown.
The form and size of the building makes it an amazing sight to see even though it faced many challenges in terms of construction.
2,400 steel beams that intersected diagonally were used to build the frame of the building, and more than 1,000 steel panels covering the structure.
Each one of these panels is unique and they form the backdrop for three quotes from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai who called the museum “the most stunning building anywhere in this world”.
The breathtaking Arabic writing script made the building an art piece in addition to serving as windows to the building.

What can you expect from the Museum of the Future
Once you have entered the museum, you’ll find yourself in the main lobby located on the ground floor where you will be able to take in the splendor of the museum.
In this location you’ll also find the cafe to one side and a gift shop to the other. Be on the lookout for the robot barista making coffee, and the beautiful robots flying through the air.
Seven floors are within the museum. There are galleries on levels from one to five. Another feat of engineering that is astonishing dimensions is the center double-helix staircase, the highest in the world, connecting them all.
The guide will help you get your ticket in the shape of a wristband. It can be worn on the right side of your arm. The wristband contains a small chip that lets you interact with the installation. You will be asked to pass through the barrier and be transported to the fifth level which is where you begin your journey.
Five: OSS Hope

4. Heal Institute
You are back on earth and are welcomed into The Heal Institute. Learn about the ecosystems of the Amazon as well as the impacts of climate change and how to build the foundation for a sustainable future.

Third Level: Al Waha Wellness Area
When you reach the third floor it is a shift in focus from the nature of the earth to the ways we maintain and care for our bodies and minds. The interactive galleries of Al Waha Wellness Area Al Waha Wellness Area offer an array of therapies and treatments, encouraging users to turn off and disconnect, while focusing on our personal wellbeing.
The therapies they offer are Movement therapy Therapy for connection, the practice of grounding. There’s also a space specifically devoted to meditation.
Level 2 Level 2: Tomorrow Today
The floor will be dedicated to the technological advancements in the coming decade and in the coming years. How can technology assist in solving the problems of our time? Innovation is essential to make our lives more comfortable and consequently more eco-friendly.
Note that to the side of this floor you’ll find the entryway to the outdoor viewing deck that offers a stunning views from a unique angle. Do not miss this opportunity to take photos.
Level 1: Future Heroes
This part of the museum is specifically designed for children younger than 10 years old. In this area, they are in awe of the opportunity to play and explore through three activities such as Imagine, Design, and Build. The children are involved through games that are interactive and they can be part of missions and earn badges on the process.
Carers and parents are not permitted to access the main play space, however there are plenty volunteers available to assist children. It is possible to sit in the designated area just outside the play area, or you can explore the galleries on the upper levels.
